Up-cycling fabrics
In our hot and humid climate, jeans are not big movers in our op shop. We had a $1 a pair sale rack, and still have full racks..... so I decided to make up a few different bags to see if we can somehow save these items from landfill. Re-fashioning those items into something useful. I made a few variations just to try out the market and sold this one on the first day they were put out! Each one is individual, depending on what fabric I have available. I tend to lay things out, and then just play around a bit. Here I am laying out all the options before I start sewing. I have joined a facebook group which is so inspirational and supportive. I was excited to find this tote bag, which was perfect as the lining of a bag for a teenager. this was also snapped up quickly. The bags were hung up at the op shop and hopefully this will continue to be

ReplyDeleteOh dont worry I do too! I am glad there is glass between him and me.
DeleteWow, must have been a suprising sight.
ReplyDeleteThe are no native Iguanas in Australia - it looks like a Lace monitor, a type of goanna.
George - you are right - will have to go and amend that.
DeleteHe looks really curious to know what's going on inside! - are they dangerous?
DeleteSo lucky the door was shut....
ReplyDeleteFor sure, I am paranoid about keeping the doors shut, mostly the screen doors though....
DeleteIt is always such fun when nature surprises us.
ReplyDeleteIt is isnt it Joan.
DeleteI agree with George. It's a lace monitor.
ReplyDeleteWill go and correct that.
DeleteIt would scare the hell out of me! Maybe it was just looking for food...
ReplyDeleteSami, I dont know what it was looking for - our tinted windows have a reflection and I wonder if he saw that?
DeleteA visiting reptile....O, my. He/she looks like a friend in need.
ReplyDeleteL
Dixie, I am just glad he didnt stick around for too long.
DeleteHow wonderful! I wonder if he/she was doing what the birds do here..."attacking" the rival reflected in the window. You don't feed them, do you?
ReplyDeleteNanette, yes I think it might be the reflection. No we dont feed wildlife.
DeleteOh gosh! If I saw that at the door I would be petrified ! And I think I have trouble with our frogs and toads !!
ReplyDeleteOh Jane, they mostly just shy away from humans I have no idea what made this one come so close - he went off in a hurry as soon as my hubby started to open the door. (to get a better photo lol!)
DeleteWow, what a handsome lizard! I think I would have been so surprised. And yes, I would have yelled out to hubby! :)
ReplyDeleteNot what you expect when you hear a knock is it?
DeleteHe really looks like he is very interested in coming inside. Looking behind him/her I like what you did as a water absorbing site for the rain gutter down pipe. Aloha
ReplyDeleteStellamarina,
Deletehe does doesnt he? That works well - I much prefer to have the water soak into the ground than flow down the road.
"Who can it be knocking at my door? Who can it be now, who can it be now????"
ReplyDeleteIt really looks like he/she is checking their reflection in the glass door.....I keep my front door open during the day, so I would have freaked out to find that unwelcome visitor in my home...yikes!!!
Virginia,
Deletewe keep the screen doors closed at least! Keeps the mozzies out too!
