Happy Christmas

As I have said before we have a very small unit and garden, so storing things like Christmas trees for 11 months of the year has never really come into the equation.  We picked up a Christmas tree outlined with lights and suspended it on our reading lamp stand.  The family have looked at it with derision.... until now!  A package arrived in the mail from my dear mom and she sent all these lovely little wire and bead ornaments and it has taken my Christmas tree to a whole new level.  thank you Mom!

 and I have an angel - I love angels - how beautifully she reflects the lights.  My mom is an angel - always visiting others and taking care of the "oldies (she is 87!)

 Here is my nativity scene on the coffee table - I love their cute faces and we can move them around to tell the Christmas story.


After having Christmas here in Australia, I will be off on a wild adventure with my two daughters.  We will be in Malaysia for three weeks!
On my return I will post some photos on my travel blog - starting the first week of February.  I will post a link from here.
Thank you to my wonderful readers - I know I have not always been very regular, and I thank you for hanging in there when I have not been able to think of anything marvelous to say, or too lazy to get out the camera. .

    Well your Mum's choice of decorations are just perfect. They are all fantastic and they look absolutely lovely on your Christmas tree.

    I love that tree and that manger scene. We do the same here and tell the Christmas story with it.

Up-cycling fabrics

   In our hot and humid climate, jeans are not big movers in our op shop.  We had a $1 a pair sale rack, and still have full racks..... so I decided to make up a few different bags to see if we can somehow save these items from landfill.  Re-fashioning those items into something useful.  I made a few variations just to try out the market and sold this one on the first day they were put out! Garden share collective June 2014

Once again another month has rolled by and it is time to link up with  Lizzie at   strayedtable  for our monthly collective where we share what has happened in our gardens for the last month and what we hope to be working on for the next month.  Wrapping up May and heading into June. Last month I wanted to work on: Seed tape .... I did make seed tape, and did a tutorial on the processs - you can see it  here.   It was fun, and worked well, expecially with kids. Mostly though I see a space and throw a few seeds in.  I can see myself doing it at the beginning of a planting season. Worms . .... I have been adding a little of the worm castings every time I plant something, and as a side dressing when plants seem to need a bit of a boost.  It does seem to help. Sitting .... plenty of that - I like the new (original) location of the swing where we have a long view of the garden. - veggie garden is just around that corner.... I have something to tell you.....

Come on in to my garden.... I have something to tell you  Sit down in the comfy chair  for a little while, and listen to the tinkling of the wind chimes - are you relaxed? Good!  Remember how I entered that garden competition, and the judges came, and they wandered down my paths, taking photos?  Yes! I won runner up! a Fifty dollar gift card ........ from a real nursery, not the big box store that I normally shop at.  Oh gosh, how exciting.... I wonder what I will buy?
