One hundred percent

I have been bemoaning the fact that nothing in the vegetable garden seems to be taking off (compared to other bloggers who seem to be harvesting huge leafy greens).  I think it might be a bit cool for the tomatoes to ripen, and I am enjoying the rather rare cool weather.  Then I was putting together a salad for my lunch and realised it is totally harvested from my garden. 100%.

I have lettuce, spring onion, parsley, cilantro, celery, dill, basil and even some nasturtiums.  Who needs tomatoes?

  1. 100% food from the garden is such a wonderful gift.

  2. I can't believe you are complaining about the lack of warmth for your tomatoes in late June! At least you have tomato plants - way too cold here for them. Anyway, that salad looks fantastic. Those nasturtiums are a nice touch. Did you use and of the leaves as well? I love them.

  4. Malay Kadazan girl,
I know, and it all tastes to flavorsome as well!
    Laura,
Well I suppose we get a bit wimpy up here regarding cold weather! This is generally the only time we can grow regular type vegetables. I didn't add the leaves yesterday, but today I added a couple to my salad and will give them a try. Hubby just raised his eyebrows :) I guess he wont be trying them.
    Giga,
All the flavors were amazing, and the nasturtiums flower taste just blended right in.

  6. Did you know that nasturtium leaves are actually rather healthful and they are a natural antibiotic? Tell your hubby they taste quite similar to watercress :)

  7. Desiree,
A natural antibiotic? very interesting. Hubby was just asking me why I don't catch all the cold's and flu from the grand-kids the way he does. I just smiled and said well the only difference is that I eat all my vegetables! I would have mentioned the nasturtium leaves if I had known that already!
