MrFothergills kids gardening kits

My six year old grandson is very keen on gardening, and luckily we had him and his little sister for the weekend.  We could plan, and concentrate and oh my gosh!  was it fun! :)  I have been so blessed to get these free packages from MrFothergills  They have an amazing range of kids gardening kits and supplies.
I set up a table to work on and we first of all opened up the two packages inside where they could do their labels and  see what was on offer.  One kit was vegetables, and these were planted as suggested in a little patch directly into the garden.  I worte the labels and they added stickers to them,  I find the packets of compressed coir seed mix (you re-constitute into a bucket with water) are great for covering a thin layer over the planted seeds.

Then the next kit was flowers for a butterlfy garden but they had to be started in pots, so those labels were made as well, and placed on thier little potting table at the back of the garden.

They really enjoyed the pizza kit - water was added and when they determined that the little pods had absorbed as much water as they could, we labelled them with the labels supplied and planted the seeds.
I told them there was a lovely lady at MrFothergills who sent me these seeds for them, and so they decided to write a little thank you card each

I hope you like your cards :) as much as we enjoyed planting the seeds.

  3. That is so nice of the kids to write thank you cards for the lady that sent them the seeds.
This kind and mannerly trait obviously has been instilled in them and I award you (and the parents) for that.

I'm sure the Mr. Fothergill's lady will be surprised and feel quite special when she receives those lovely cards.

    1. Roz,
It was great fun, and I am glad that most of the seeds have already come up. The next, and harder part will be trying to get them to eat some veggies..... The little three year old enjoyed the cherry tomatoes out of the garden, but not the lettuce!

  6. You are making such a difference to your grandchildren's world , teaching about gardening. The reason i love gardening now is because I used to walk around in my grandfather's vege patch with him , helping . They say that grandparents can be a huge influence on a child's life and I believe it.

    1. Kim,
I hope they look back and remember it all. I remember my mother gardening, although I don't remember helping her much.

  7. That is a wonderful thing to do. I've made it a point to involve my kids in my gardening. The love for plants is something you can inculcate especially if they view it as fun. The memories of activities with you will be priceless as they grow older.
