Pinktastic!

I spent the weekend spreading 6 bales of hay around the communal area and then some more in my little garden.   Hopefully it will keep the weeds from running rampant this wet season and then also hold in some nutrients once the rains really start. Whew!
Tired old me flopped down into the swing  for a  rest and a huge jug of iced water, then looked up to see..... my little buds on  the Ulysses host tree (I really need to find out what to call it now) they have burst into the prettiest little flowers....

Isn't that just the prettiest little bundle of pink cuteness you have ever seen?  Pink is my youngest daughters favourite colour and she would be calling this pinktastic, and I totally agree. No other word for it.

I haven't seen any Ulysses butterflies around lately - gotta get the word out around town.... lunch is served.

It has inspired me to do some research and I see it is called the Evodia tree - that should be easy to remember!

While mulching I also noticed that the sexy pink lady in the corner has been rather busy - there are six flowers!  How blessed I am to have these gorgeous flowers growing in my own backyard.  I prefer not to pick them as they last so long on the bush, and with everything trimmed back you can easily see them from the swing or gazebo.

there is also this orchid blooming from one of the hanging baskets.... and another orchid has about four stalks full of buds...
I cant say that I like the wet season with its heat and  humidity, but gosh I do like flowers it brings...

  1. Lots of pretty pink today! That Ulysses host tree definitely looks like the Euodia, also known as Evodia tree. Such a fabulous colour. Sexy Pink Lady is looking lovely as usual, and I just love that little creamy white Orchid.

The heat and humidity are definitely starting to build up now. Not looking forward to the summer, although the predictions are for a mild wet season this coming year.

    1. Bernie,
Funny that this is the first time I have seen flowers. We haven't noticed too many butterflies this year - I was hoping these flowers would bring them in in droves....

    2. Virginia,
Oh I consider sitting on the swing part of gardening, as it is then that I sit back and notice tiny blooms :)

Very true, I am wondering how long that orchid has been flowering without me even noticing it.
