Right now we are on water restrictions and it is so hot there is not much going on in the garden!africanaussiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16660727599623626163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1578069567609242972.post-77598117383930244892019-11-27T08:39:22.750+10:002019-11-27T08:39:22.750+10:00Thank you so much for your comment, I have used ou...Thank you so much for your comment, I have used our council mulch on occasion as well, but do find a lot of weeds come up from it. I think a few changes here and there might be good too. Funnily enough I had cyclamen die on me before and never tried it again. I slowly settling back into a routine and hope to blog more often.africanaussiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16660727599623626163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1578069567609242972.post-33851691185241825432019-11-12T15:37:43.279+10:002019-11-12T15:37:43.279+10:00Thanks for your comment on my blog...I hit the wro...Thanks for your comment on my blog...I hit the wrong button on the comment accidentally so now it won't post it however I did read it..thanks. It is very hard to get away when working or with a reduced income in retirement (not everyone has lower income of course). I love those chubby little carrots. I've never seen them before.Joyfulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09956413632864588646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1578069567609242972.post-94944012348704102019-11-12T11:19:42.621+10:002019-11-12T11:19:42.621+10:00Sorry to hear about your job. It sounds as if you are already working out how to turn it into a good thing though, which I'm glad for.

Just wanted to chime in about mulch. We used to use hay all the time! It's fantastic. These days our council has mulch for a very decent price, which I've been using for the last decade or so. It has the virtue of having lots of different plants in it, so plenty of different nutrients etc.

Also omg the carrots! I didn't know they'd grow in the tropics. And the kale - a friend gave me a cyclamen and it's been flowering right through the build up still (I'm in Darwin) in spite of the intense heat and humidity. I think it's on its way out now, but I'm definitely getting one next year!Tropical Threadshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10577923650038624948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1578069567609242972.post-6089218538251216192019-11-12T07:33:25.514+10:002019-11-12T07:33:25.514+10:00iT did come as a shock, but as you say it was wond...iT did come as a shock, but as you say it was wonderful to have that time with my children and grandchildren. Some things are meant to be and it was so lovely you spent quality time with your children overseas as had the job loss not taken place you probably wouldn't have taken two months off to do this. As upsetting it would have been, the upside was family time. Your carrot recipe sounds good too. Not so nice being out of a job when you're 18 months away from retirement, so I hope you get a job soon.
I had never seen those stumpy carrots before. We also have grasshoppers eating some succulents and veggies.Samihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06467163627586022816noreply@blogger.com
